Ephemeral URL

I’d lost the url for this tumblr blog a while back, not having direct access to DNS settings, but through my host. When I changed hosts, that control (of A records that would let me use http://ephemera.cyberspacebabes.com, instead of the root domain) was damn near nill. So I changed it to another domain, deviantstreak.com.

That said, it’s now back to its original form.  RSS feeds will now work perfectly. :D Once it propagates, that is.

[Update] Guess that won’t be happening since Host Gator’s still hanging on to it. Maybe I’ll get around to e-mailing them later.  For now, I’ve just slapped deviantstreak.com on here.

“ Looking into the fire, listening to the drums…I realized that my heart was pounding out of my chest because the too young girl had spoken a primal language to the beast that lives inside of me…the one who only sees life in fantasy and dream…the one who I packed away when I left my inner boi behind so long ago and didn’t allow him to become a man…because I had to be someone else…I had to be someone’s mother…and my Femme-self came into being. My beast… My little boi grown up…

Playing with Posterous

I love blogs. I love collecting them. I like posting nonsense or insightful trivia. Of course, I run out of nonsense long before I run out of social sites and blogs. What I really like, though, would be the ability to update everything, everywhere, from one place, easily and effortlessly. I don’t want a learning curve. I don’t even want to learn *one* new macro or markup. I just want to type.  And here I am, doing just that.

Posting to my other blogs/social sites will need some testing, but as of now, I can do this. It’s easy, and hell, here I am curled on the sofa, looking at my screen sideways and (hopefully) posting. Tonight I’m posting an image of one of my favorite places ever.

Xoxo,

Jenna, a.k.a. Mercy

Booze & STDs

Another study on drinking and women and sex. This is why I drink at home. Or should.

“The link between binge drinking and risky sexual behavior is complex,” said Heidi E. Hutton, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as corresponding author for the study. “We wanted to examine one component of that relationship, whether binge drinking increased the risk of engaging in sexual behaviors and having STDs. We found gender differences in binge drinking among patients at an STD clinic, and also that binge drinking increased STD risk for women.”

This isn’t really a surprise. Women are at greater risk when it comes to STDs because of our anatomy—add that to the fact that the same amount of alcohol affects us more than men.

“We found that binge drinking among women STD-clinic patients is associated with certain risky sexual behaviors,” said Hutton. “Across gender, women binge drinkers are more likely to have anal sex than men binge drinkers. Within gender, women binge drinkers are three times as likely to have anal sex, and twice as likely to have multiple sex partners compared to women who do not drink alcohol. Compared to non-drinking women, women binge drinkers are also five times as likely to have gonorrhea.”

The ratio of women with gonorrhea is frightening. Okay, as for the numbers on anal sex: are we talking about men giving or receiving? There is a difference.

I’m usually so glad I have sex with women almost exclusively. But looking at these numbers, and the numbers of bisexual women I meet at bars…I may have to rethink that whole singles-bar thing.

Liz Cohen: Transformational Art
“What defines the limits of who’s in and who’s out of a group or subculture, and how can those limits be pushed while remaining meaningful? People can demonstrate an incredible amount of creativity and tenacity when they’re trying to fit in. I want to know something about how a person conserves a sense of self, history and dignity during and after that adaptation process.”

I love this pose, and the play of light along the subject’s body. Men can be so beautiful.
From Dylan Ricci’s artist’s statement:

The unadorned body of man, a powerful vehicle for the exploration of light and form, is saturated with associations – eroticism, power, religion, masculinity, sensuality, sexuality, history and the long tradition of the male nude in western art…

A good article on the benefits of silicone toys. Here are the main points:

1. Silicone is Phthalate-free.
2. Silicone is tasteless, odorless and hypoallergenic.
3. Silicone transfers vibrations extremely well.
4. Silicone is sturdy, pliable and nearly indestructible.
5. Silicone is easy to clean and disinfect.

Some things to keep in mind:
Don’t use silicone lube, it can make your toys sticky and adhere to your delecate parts. And if you’re using a menstrual cup, it’s probably made of silicone, too. Take it out.
